Frosting is the Best Part.....

.......of the cake that is! Think about the time and energy it takes to frost a pretty cake. (Ok, I admit, I am NOT a baker, and don't frost many cakes......but I DO admire those who do! LOL!) There are classes on how to decorate cakes and there are books......and an entire aisle at Michaels dedicated to cake tips and such. But let me tell you how I frost a cake.........ready?

Simply spread the frosting (store bought of course) with a knife.......and take some pretty sprinkles and shake them on top of the frosting. (What did you expect? I told you I don't bake! )

OK, enough with the baking tips for today! Let's get to my card shall we? I used the Girlfriend's Crafty Secret's Creative Scraps for the main image. I found these cute birthday hats at Michaels, they are from K & Company. I wanted to create the look of frosting around the image, so I took texture paste and ran it along the edge with my finger. Then I took my "sprinkles" (beads) and lightly shook them onto my frosting. : )
I actually might have to bake this weekend......it is my hubby's 41st birthday. If I decide to bake (And I use that term loosely.....) I will post a picture!!! You can check out my cake decorating skills.......yea right.
Have a great weekend everyone! And as always, I appreciate you stopping by!

Just Buzzin' by.....

To say hi! I have been so busy this week that my crafting and computer time have been seriously neglected! (So I apologize for not visiting....hoping today to get caught up with blog land!) I did manage to clean my scrapbook room yesterday................for 6 hours! I think the clutter, disorganization was killin' my mojo. So maybe now I can actually create something I like.....

I made this card awhile back but never posted it. I think it is a SU! set that I got from my MIL. I colored the images with Copics and used my Nestibilities. I currently, have no idea who makes the paper......cuz I made this quite a few weeks ago. (sorry)

Off to do a bit of shopping for hubby's 41st birthday. He was so funny last night.......apparently, he realized that his hair is thinning pretty badly in the back. So he kept holding up the mirror to his head, and saying, "I can't BELIEVE I am balding! I inherited everything from my mother's side except Grandpa's head of hair!" I had to chuckle to myself, because as I looked at him complaining about the process of getting older, I realized that we ARE indeed growing old together. Bald or not, I still love the guy to pieces!

Friends

If you've ever read my profile on my side bar, I mention that I have my own support group.......it is a fabulous group of women I've managed to become friends with because of my daughter Cortney. Our entire group, has either worked with Cortney in some fashion, or has a disabled child that Cortney is friends with. We are quite an eclectic group! Our ages range from 30's up to the 60's. (One friend is not pictured here) Lucky for us we all scrapbook! We try to get together as often as possible to scrap, go out to dinner or a movie, or just go shopping. When we get together......WATCH OUT! We are a wild bunch I tell ya! ; ) Although lately, life has been so crazy we haven't had the chance to see each other in awhile! Seriously, without these women, I probably would have gone crazy a long time ago! : )

I used Noel Mignon's Penny Arcade kit for this LO. (sold out!) I wanted the letters to look distressed, so I sanded them a bit.

Some of the lil' details...........

The current challenge over at Noel Mignon's blog is to create a LO about the special friends in YOUR life! Go HERE if you would like to participate AND see the other amazing LO's by the DT!!!

Crafty Secret's DT Challenge!

This challenge is all about birthdays! Should be easy enough right? Sometimes you need little gifts......token gifts......so here is a lil' altered project I came up with. Since I am a teacher , I have access to many of these lil' staple boxes......and since I am a scrapper, I can't throw ANY of them away! (It's a sickness people!) So what's a girl to do? ALTER them of course!

Pretty ugly box huh?
Better?
I used the Crafty Secret's Girlfriend Creative Scraps to cover the box. Of course I also used some vintage buttons, ribbon, and a couple of pearls to dress it up. So what do you put in such a box?

Well......martini magnets of course! What's better than a few martinis holding up those important papers on the fridge?! I used some glass pebbles from Michaels. The martini image is from the Craft Secret's Chandelier Fun set. I colored it with my Copics, cut it out, and mounted it on red paper. I used Crystal Effect to adhere the glass pebble to it. When that is dry, cut around the pebble, then glue the magnet to the back of it.

Here they are all nestled inside of the box!
I have a card too to share today! Totally unrelated to the above box! ( They don't match at all! )But, I did use the same set........ Chandelier Fun.

I stamped the chandelier in Versamark, then used white sparkly embossing powder. I did the same with the "chain" but did cut that itty bitty thing out! The candles were stamped in Momento black, colored with Copics, and yes.......they were each cut out! The paper is SU! and Basic Grey.

Can you see the "chain" hanging there?

............and my lil' candles?

The rest of the DT has FABULOUS projects to share! Go check 'em out!!!!
Happy Monday to ya!!!
