Whimsical

The meaning of whimsical is described as impulsive and playful. That is this week's scrap challenge over at Scrap & Stamp. These pictures of my two year old niece are certainly playful! She loves to dip her head back.......all the way when she swings! So of course I had to get behind her to capture that! Don't ya just love that fine blond hair blowing all over? : ) I used an old piece of My Mind's Eye for the background paper, some vintage book paper, Making Memories journaling spots, and a few misc. pieces I had laying around. I have all these Popsicle sticks from the the rub on packages and decided to recycle them here. I broke them in half and used them for the stems of my flowers. (I think that might count as whimsical.....right?) Her name was done in stickers that I've probably had for 12 years. So let's call them "retro" stickers! : )

Hop on over to the Scrap & Stamp blog to get a look at the prize being offered this week! Make your own whimsical LO, and that prize could be yours!

Fish

What a crazy week this has been! My Cricut machine died this week....boo hoo! Soooooo I decided it was time to upgrade to a Cricut Expression! I figured it could be my early birthday present to myself. (See how I very easily justified that to myself?) I ended up buying a new one off of E-bay. It was a pretty good deal and now I can't wait to get it!

My LO uses Noel Mignon's Five Foot Two kit. It is a page about my niece, Hannah. She loves to visit and swim in my pool. She is always a bit tentative.....until her cousin, Kyle prods her a bit! : ) I love the pics of her arms and legs splayed!

There is lots going on right now.......
Noel Mignon and us DT gals are hosting a Summer Sizzlin' Crop right now on the message board. There are lots of games, challenges, chatting, and prizes! Head on over to join in the fun!

Next week I will be guest blogger for JustRite.....so I will have lots of Christmas projects to share! Oh yea! And on Monday we are having our Christmas Blog Hop !!!

A Mushroom With a View

You might want to grab a pair of sunglasses for this post! I am usually a soft colored, vintage kind of gal, but not today! Today, I broke out of my usual style for something bright, happy, and fun! I used Sweet 'n Sassy's, A Mushroom With a View, digi set. For some reason these Shrooms seem happy to me........can mushrooms be happy? Maybe I've been eating the wrong kind of mushrooms in my salads? And I'm not talking the garden variety! Anyway, I used "happy" June Bug/Basic Grey paper. It is such fun patterned paper! I colored the image with my Copics, added some texture to my grass with blending solution and a washcloth. I kept the embellishments to a minimum since the paper and image are rather bright and busy. Just a simple ribbon and a circular sentiment!

Don't forget, my card class starts this coming Monday......I am super excited and hope you can join me! Sign up is on the right side bar if you interested!

Have a HAPPY Thursday!!!!!! : )

Quick Post Today....

Once again, life has gotten waaaaay busy! I think I am trying to get everything done before I head back to school in another week. Which just reminded me that I desperately need to start setting up my classroom. My crafting time and computer time have been low priority lately.....hopefully, life will settle down, and I can get more creative time in! I am finally sending thank you's for Cort's party......that I had like 4 weeks ago. Better late than never, I guess. I used flat panel cards that I bought from Michaels ages ago. I cut strips of DP for the side to give it a bit of color. I used my JustRite sets, Damask Monograms and From the desk/library/kitchen of. I used my Nesties for layering. I wrote all the thank you's on my computer. The font is by Becky Higgins.

Just to let you know, Noel Mignon and the DT are hosting a 6 day Sizzlin' Crop! It starts today!! There are challenges, prizes, chatting, and games!!! Hope you can pop in and play along with us!!!
Happy Tuesday!

A Little Fall in August....

It is 90 somethin' degrees here with 100% humidity......and yet I've got the fall cleaning bug! I have been up to my elbows with cleaning, reorganizing, and painting. Yesterday I spent 6 hours painting woodwork. We are redoing our upstairs hallway. (Which BTW, is right outside my scrapbook room! ) But you know how one thing leads to another? Now I need new window treatments, a new corner piece for books and knick knacks....... *sigh* Anyway, it is very liberating to freshen things up!

So in honor of my "fall" frame of mind, I am sharing another Crafty Secret's post card. These were a HUGE hit at CHA! They are gorgeous and make beautiful lil' hangings! I use Modge Podge to layer the paper over the chipboard. I trim it once it is dry, sand it lightly, then use Tim Holtz ink in antique linen to distress the edges. I added some Halloween ribbon and used the smaller chipboard pieces as cute accents on the ribbon.

OK, after looking at the back of this postcard, I am sort of wondering why the heck I stamped it sideways! Oh well.....too late now! Just shows you how "off" I am! : )
To get the crackled background I used an old SU! background stamp.
So what am I up to today? A little more cleaning, and hopefully back in the pool!
Have a great day everyone!!!!
