Crafty Secret's Design Team Blog Hop!

Welcome to the Crafty Secret's BLOG HOP!!!
Vicki Chrisman (our team leader) issued a challenge this week to use a bird image. It could be a stamp or an image from the Creative Scraps or Journaling Booklets. I decided to go with the lil' bird from the Christmas Joy set. I colored the bird with my Prismas and Copics, and then cut him out. The ornament was stamped on vellum with StazOn. The background was created with my Spellbinders brass template and Copic airbrush system. This glittery snowflake was made using my new Sizzix die and chunky glitter. I then misted it with rose Glimmer Mist. I added a bit of hardware around my sentiment.

I just loooooove glitter! : )

Hello Pumpkin....

Good morning and happy Thursday to you! I wanted to share a quickie card I created using Noel Mignon's, 31st kit. (Sold out!) I created the pumpkin with my oval Spellbinders, did a bit of inking, distressing, and sewing for each oval. I stamped a sentiment by Amuse and used my SU! oval punch to cut it out. For a bit of fun, I added the green glittery swirls from my Thickers pack, a button tied with floss, and a couple of punched leaves. So now it looks like a great ole' pumpking stitting in the patch, just waitin' to be picked! : ) (All pumpkins have glittery green vines.....don't they?)

I am so glad yesterday has come and gone. I was in such a foul mood, that I didn't even want to be around myself! It was just one of those aggravating days.......where if it's gonna go wrong.....it did! But today is a new day and one step closer to the weekend! Spanish class tonight.......so busy, busy!
Have a FABULOUS Thursday!!!!

A Birthday and Blog Candy...

Today is my dear MIL's birthday........(Happy Birthday!) So I created a card for her using SU! From the Garden, set. I stamped it in two colors and used clear embossing powder to "set" it. I decided to make the image more visually interesting by cutting the image into panels, setting them apart a bit, and mounting them on black paper. It really makes the image pop! The image was mounted on Basic Grey and SU! papers. The sentiment is by Papertrey Ink. I used my Spellbinders to cut it out. To dress it up a bit, I threaded a pretty organdy ribbon through my sentiment and tied a bow. I added a PT Ink button tied with twine. As a final touch I added a Maya Road stick pin.

............. a little close up....... : )

I survived our outdoor field trip yesterday! We didn't lose any kids.......so that's always a good thing! LOL! I had to go to the dentist yesterday since my tooth had been hurting for the past 2 weeks. The pain was actually radiating down into my jaw and neck. X-rays were taken.....and everything looked fine. The dentist thinks the pain is due to the fact that my gums are receding (from too many years of rough brushing) and my dentin is showing. So she "painted" some flouride varnish right at the gum line. (Which made me jump out of my skin.....talk about sensitivity!!!OUCH!) This stuff hardens and lasts from 6 mos- to 1 year. This morning it does feel A LOT better! So hopefully, that's all it was.
Don't forget tonight is the night for my blog candy drawing! If you haven't put your name in yet.....go HERE for your chance to win!

Current Challenge and Blog Candy!

This week's challenge over at Noel Mignon, was to create a Halloween LO. Easy enough right? I found these old pics of Cort when she was 7 years old. Every year, I take pics of my kids with a backdrop and my camera instead of paying for someone else to do it! I was pretty pleased with the results! Doesn't Cort make a pretty darn cute Minnie? Love her haircut here.....am actually thinking of getting it cut like this again!

A lil' close up of my title.....
.........and my "Minnie" embellishment!

If you would like to participate in this week's challenge for a chance to win some fun prizes.....go HERE! I would love to see what you create!
Don't forget to leave a comment for BLOG CANDY! The winner will be chosen on Wednesday night! And THANK YOU to those of you who left me some funnies......I enjoyed giggling over your jokes and embarrassing stories!

I can't tell you how scary this H1N1 virus is getting......it has really hit close to home.....too close. A student across the hall in Cort's school passed away from it this past Friday. A 12 year old girl. Cort knew her.....they shared equipment, and said hi to each other every morning. My heart breaks for the family. A teacher and her son at my school have also been home sick.....for a week now with the H1N1. Cort was with me at my school Thursday and Friday. I am watching her closely, hoping she doesn't get it. She is wheelchair bound and very susceptible to pneumonia. I don't know how well her little body could fight this.
Today I am off to a field trip.......outside.....with my 5th graders. I am keeping my fingers crossed that the sun peeks out today.....field trips in the rain? No fun.
Thanks so much for stopping by today!!!

Bitten by the Bug Blog Hop and Some Vintage Goodies to Give Away!

This week's Bitten By The Bug challenge was to use the pointed tag from the Stretch Your Imagination cartridge. Mine ended up looking a bit like a house. I love that I could combine my favorite companies for this week's challenge. I used an image from the Halloween Journaling booklets by Crafty Secrets., and Halloween paper from Noel Mignon's 31st kit. (sold out) I used a Martha Stewart punch for the roof and added some black glitter. I also outlined the main image with glitter because a girl can never have enough sparkle! KWIM? I added a lil' bow, a button, and a couple of stick pins to finish it off.
Isn't this a cool little border punch on the "roof?"
And what would a blog hop be without some fun candy to go with it?! Since ya'll know that I LOVE anything shabby or vintage, I thought I'd give some of my absolute favorites away! This is what you will get........ : ) Do you want to see what is inside the bag? Keep scrollin' down.....and you'll see the goodies inside!

This bag is PACKED with vintage finds and pretty notions.......I love the pinks, reds, and creams.....

So what do you have to do to win all of this? Just leave a funny for me......yep....make me laugh. Cuz right now laughing is very much needed...... : )
