JustRite's Friday Sketch Challenge & My Baby Turns 14!

Good morning! I officially had two snow days.....which was good because the first day I shoveled....and shoveled......and shoveled.......the second day I was in traction! I was so sore yesterday it was ridiculous! But now the snow is under control and I am headed back to work. Nothing like going back one day and then having the weekend off! : )

Today, I have a card using this sketch. It is JustRite's Friday challenge!
I altered mine a bit by rounding the corners and instead of a flower, I used a ribbon and stick pin. And I just realized right now that I created a vertical card instead of horizontal....... : ) I used JustRite's Mother Nature's Gift set. I stamped it in Versamark on the black paper and sprinkled it with white embossing powder. For the sentiment I used the Happy Everything set. Kind of a different card for me......more modern than I usually make! I love the hot pink and black contrasting with the white! Be sure to pop on over to the JustRite Blog to see the other designer's take on this sketch.
Today is my baby's birthday. 14 years ago today, this boy dug his way into my heart and left a permanent mark there. I can't believe how quickly time has passed. It seems like just yesterday he was in his high chair eating spaghetti, tossing the spaghetti......and bopping around to Tom Jones. Even then he had a larger than life personality. He is a good kid, he is smart, funny, sweet, and has a soft heart. I am lucky he is mine.......Happy Birthday Kyle!
Have a wonderful Friday and weekend!

2 Feet of Snow!

My back is achy from shoveling snow........lots of snow! Off to take an Advil and lay on a heating pad for awhile!
This picture was taken after we shoveled out the front door......the snow was half way up against the door!
The snow drifts were incredible! But certainly not fun to shovel! And honestly the pictures don't do it justice!
At least someone in the family was having fun in it!
Kyle spent hours building a tunnel......or cave....whatever you want to call it!
Nice to see him playing in the snow......good old fashioned fun!
Goodnight! : )

When a Child is Born....

Good morning! Today is officially a SNOW DAY! Seriously, I have never seen such a blizzard in all my life. 1979 was the closet thing I can remember. The winds howled all night, we had thunder, and blinding snow. I can't see out of many of windows because the snow is covering them, and I can't open my front door. Thankfully, my back door is openable! (Otherwise this gal would be snowed in for a few days! ; ) I will be back later with some pictures!

Anyway, my card today is for a brand new baby. My girlfriend just had a 10lb baby boy! She has two girls, so her little family is now complete! I made this card for her using Angel Blessings by Crafty Secrets. The angel was colored with Copics and given a liberal amount of glitter. The sentiment was stamped in Versamark and sprinkled with silver embossing powder. The circle and scalloped circle were cut with Spellbinder's dies. The paper is Papertrey Ink and Melissa Frances.

A few pearls here and there were added to finish it off.
Off to grab my boots and shovel my way out of here! It could be a few hours! Have a wonderful Wednesday my friends!

Cricut Meets Papertrey!

Good morning to you! Like much of the country, we are expecting a huge snow storm tomorrow night. I guess the weatherman thinks it could be up to a foot of snow. Ick. I am so ready for spring! I am tired of the cold, tired of shoveling, tired of the heavy clothes.......but I guess I can't control Mother Nature! So in my attempt to hurry winter along, I created a spring card using my Martha Stewart's Crafts All Occasions Cake Cricut Cartridge. (Say that 10 times fast!) I cut the bird, branch, and leaves with this cartridge at 3 1/2" To add a bit of dimension, I inked the leaves, folded them in half, and inked the seam, and then pinched the ends to make the leaves pop up a bit. The flowers were cut using dies from Papertrey Ink. Papers are from Papertrey Ink and Girl's Paperie. I wanted the bird/flowers to stand out, so I placed them against a white doily, against a white background, which was Cuttlebugged with the Polka Dots folder. I tied some twine under the flower to finish it off!
Oh! and did I mention there was glitter involved? ; )
A foot of snow Tuesday night? mmmmmmm.........maybe a snow day perhaps? ; )
Have a fabulous Monday!!!!

what an AWESOME blog candy, thanks for the chance to win. I've been trying to make up my mind between the Rock Princess and Forever Young cartridges. It would be so fabulous to win RP! My latest creative project is going through my UFO (unfinished objects) heap and finishing cards, as part of an overall new year's wish (can't call it a resolution or I'll break it first thing) to declutter and simplify. I gathered up all the UFOs that were in my spare bedroom, brought the overflowing bin downstairs to my crafting/kitchen table...and...I did 9 christmas cards yayyyyyy. Actually finished something. And since my cardmaking focus has changed to make sure my cards are 'eligible' to be mailed to the Operation Write Home gals, I didn't put a lick of sparkle or glitter or bling.

I loved hearing what everyone was up to and I appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment!!! Thanks everyone for playing!!!
