Last Day

....Of summer vacation. As much as I've enjoyed being home for the summer and not having that "regular" routine, I am ready to head back to the class room. I've been there every day since last week getting things organized and set up. The only downside to all this school stuff is it has zapped my creativity at home. I haven't crafted all week.  In addition to my mind set being on school, I have been redecorating the basement.  I have so many neat things to show you, but it isn't quite ready yet!  I have been a chevron, spray painting fool! ; )  My husband said to me the other night while watching TV down in the basement, "I can't stop staring at it, it looks SO different!"  And I couldn't agree more!  I hope to share it with you by next week!

Today I have a Crafty Secret's card that uses the Animal Party set.  It is such a cute set and is perfect for making children's cards. I colored this pup with my Copic markers and did a bit of sponging on the edges. The image was matted using various Spellbinder's dies.  The ribbon is a denim ribbon by SU!

I hadn't really intended to go towards a patriotic theme....but sometimes these cards take on a life of their own! ; )
I am headed to school once again and am hoping to get Cortney in the pool this afternoon.  Summer has returned and I couldn't be any happier!
Have a great weekend! : )

What a Difference Colors Can Make!

Have you ever tried to cram a zillion things into one week? That's what I am trying to do before I head back to work on Monday. Finishing up my kids' doctor appointments, setting up my class room, getting my house organized, and buying some last minute items for my kid's school supply lists. I am certainly not complaining.....just explaining. ; ) It has been quite a whirlwind....and every errand I run I have my lil' side kick with me!  (Cort doesn't start school until next Thursday) : )

Remember Monday's card?  With its soft pink, grey, and cream color scheme?  I loved the cut so much I decided to create another card with some bolder, more retro inspired colors.  It is exactly the same minus the silver spatula, which I replaced with a sentiment from My Craft Spot stamps.
I love making those lumpy bumpy cards....so I use a lot of dimensional squares in my projects.  It is such an easy way to add depth.

So which do you prefer? The softer color scheme from Monday? Or today's more bold color scheme?
On some creative happy news, THIS card got picked up by Papercraft Inspirations from the UK.  The card will be featured in their October issue.  : )
Gotta run to my school and get some lesson planning done!
Have a great day my friends!!!

Baked With Love.....

I just dropped my youngest off for his first day of school.  He is a sophomore in high school.....and I am sure like most of you, I had a lump in my throat.

I have also been digging through old photos for some DT projects I am working on.  Looking at photos of the kids when they were babies, toddlers, grade schoolers.....is somewhat bittersweet.  It makes you realize how fast life really does go.  And sometimes life can easily pass you by, if you let it.

Today I have a Cricut card to share with you.  It uses the apron cut from the Country Life Cartridge.  I think it is such a cute image!  I dressed it up with glitter, pearls, and a pretty silk ribbon from Sharon Johnson's Stamp Simply store.  I also found the spatula charm in my stash and incorporated that too!  I added a little heart bead as a final touch.
The card base and scalloped circle were cut using the Cricut Font and Basic Shapes Cricut Craft Room Exclusive.  (Say that 10 times fast!) ; )
I have lots on my agenda today.....school, vet, therapy........my very last week off! I plan on making the most of it! : )
Have a great day friends!
