Owl Pillow Box...

I am so glad today is Friday! It has been a busy, busy week, and I am pretty darn pooped!  Although this weekend will be pretty busy as well......Kyle's homecoming is Saturday.  So I have flowers to pick up, pictures to take, chauffeuring to do.  I am not complaining one bit though.....it's all "good" busy! ; )

I've had bits of time here and there after the kids and hubby head to bed to play with my new toy.  The Silhouette.  They offer this adorable owl pillow box and knew I had to add it to my collection! Whooooo doesn't like an owl pillow box? (Sorry I couldn't resist!) ; )
I dug up some of my girly pink papers and went to town....
She is perfect for stuffing a little gift card into......or a treat, note etc.....
And since she is a girl owl.....I had to add a little satin bow to her head.  And glitter. No girl would be complete without glitter.
I am off to get my booty to work and begin today's race......
I hope to have some photos of my kids up this weekend......
Have a great weekend my friends! Hope yours is a great one!

Using Distress Markers to Color Flowers

Halloween yesterday and almost a spring like card today. A bit crazy right? ; )I actually made this card awhile back and forgot to post it.  It uses watercolor paper and the Flower Shoppe cartridge from Cricut.  I cut an entire sheet of flowers in various sizes and then colored them lightly with my Tim Holtz Distress markers.  After I finished coloring it, I spritzed them with water and let the colors blend into each other.  You have to let the flowers completely dry before assembling them.
I love the variations in color and the depth it gives the flowers.  I did the same thing with the leaves.  The sentiment is by My Craft Spot. The ribbon is from Sharon Johnson's Stamp Simply store.

I am hoping to share a bit more news with you later this week concerning Cortney.  More exciting steps on her new journey........
Have a great day my friends!

Halloween Gum Holders!

It is hard to believe that today is October 1st already!  Time just seems to be on fast forward lately......and I am afraid to miss anything! I am so glad to have slowed down a bit this weekend.  I shopped with my son for dress pants, shirt, and  a tie for his upcoming homecoming dance.  He and I had lunch together....alone. No dad. No Cortney. Just us.  I miss my little buddy.  We used to be inseparable....and then he turned into a teenager.....you understand. So I am glad we had a bit of time together, even if shopping isn't his favorite activity!

I've been playing a lot with my Silhouette this past weekend.  I have been experimenting and trying to teach myself all the ins and outs of it.  It is a lot different than the Cricut.  A few of you have asked me to write about the pros and cons of each.....I think I will down the line.  I don't think I have enough knowledge yet to do a fair comparison. And don't get me wrong, I still love my Cricut....and won't give it up.  This is just a new toy...a new crafty item to add to my arsenal of weapons! ; )
So I used this file from Silhouette.
Perfect for packaging packs of gum for Halloween.
I used papers I printed from the new Crafty Secret's Halloween CD.  They are awesome papers that you can print to any size you need! I also used some images from the CD.  I printed them tiny, so I could punch them with a circle punch and add an epoxy dome on top.  These became my enclosure.
I just added a bit of twine and a rhinestone in a coordinating colors....
I adore this pumpkin! Although he looks a bit frightened by whatever is standing next to him.....
Linking it up HERE! Be sure to check out Lucy's month long Halloween Linky party!
Linking up HERE too!

Be sure to check out the Halloween CD if you get a chance as well as the Crafty Secret's blog to see what the other designers have been creating for Halloween!
Have a great day my friends!
